    Job Title Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology Rank Assistant/Associate Professor Classification Title Tenure Track Position Summary


    New Mexico Highlands University is accepting applications for a nine month, tenure-track position in Clinical/Counseling Psychology beginning in August 2024.


    • Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in clinical psychology, ethics, IQ assessment, personality assessment, evidence-based and empirically supported individual and group clinical skills training, practicum, and other assigned courses within the prescribed curriculum.
    • This position will include heavy involvement in the cognitive-behaviorally oriented graduate Clinical Psychology/Counseling Masters program with potential roles as Practicum Coordinator and Graduate Coordinator. Additionally, this position will be vital in overseeing and maintaining the department's accreditation for the Clinical Psychology/Counseling degree. Payment for license/renewal of license and Continuing Education credits are covered by university funding.
    • Applicants must be licensed or be able to be licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of New Mexico within one year of hiring date.
    • This position will be based at NMHU's main campus in Las Vegas, NM.
    • This position will include research mentoring of Psychology graduate students.
    • This position will include academic advising of undergraduate and graduate students.
    • This position will require development of a psychology research laboratory and an active research program.
    • This position will include service to the university and department.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Faculty contractual duties include, but are not limited to:


    • Teaching (teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year);
    • May be assigned to teach evening and/or Saturday classes, courses via Zoom, and/or develop and teach online synchronous or asynchronous courses;
    • Holding office hours as required;
    • Developing a research laboratory and an active research program in psychology;
    • Advising students on academic and vocational curricula;
    • Directing student research (including theses, independent study, etc.);
    • Participating in the review of non-thesis track written portfolios and the administration of clinical oral exams;
    • Participating as a departmental and program representative on standing and ad-hoc committees;
    • Attending psychology department faculty meetings;
    • Serving as a liaison to clinical practicum opportunities and supervisors within the community;
    • May supervise graduate assistants or work study students;
    • Maintaining regular attendance;
    • Performing other related duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications

    *EDUCATION: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or related field (ABD will be considered).
    *EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: ·
    • Evidence of teaching excellence/potential; ·
    • Evidence of research excellence/potential.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred:

    Experience as a clinical supervisor; Evidence of research publications and grant funding; Experience with Distance and Technology Education delivery systems.

    • Ability to use technology and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy;
