- Regularly liaise with internal customers to ensure a clear understanding of customer needs and degree of urgency.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of production and maintenance plans/schedules and undertake required purchasing activities to enable timely delivery of goods.
- Proactively follow up with internal customers to ensure goods/services have been received and customers are satisfied with the outcome.
- Train end users in the appropriate use of Purchasing Module of JDE
- When a valid contract is available for the requested item, the contract must be followed accordingly.
- In the absence of a contract, obtain quotes from Thiess approved supplier lists.
- Compare quotes based on quality, price, and delivery time.
- Negotiating pricing and A/P terms with new and existing suppliers to be cost efficient.
- Submit requisition for approval.
- Generate approved requisition into Purchase Order and send to supplier.
- Initiate Change Orders/Amendments when necessary.
- Expedite orders and give feedback to internal customers when needed.
- Process after-hour requisitions
- Provide purchasing reports in a timely manner.
- Regular JDE housekeeping.
- Ensure accurate purchasing records are maintained.
- Ensure appropriate use of Thiess systems and standards for creation of requisitions.
- Liaise with internal customers and Accounts Payable to resolve any invoicing issues preventing prompt processing and payment in line with Thiess' payment terms.
- Regularly liaise with suppliers to ensure a clear understanding of customer specifications.
- Negotiate term and conditions for purchases not covered by contracts, ensuring best value outcomes are achieved in term of costs, timelines, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with existing contracts - pricing and availability.
- If necessary, follow up queries from suppliers regarding payment for goods/services received.
- Manage new supplier onboarding process. - Proper maintenance of Supplier Data/Profile
- Promote, encourage, and foster the safety culture and environmentally responsible behavior within the company.
- Ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously within required timelines and ensuring that they are completed to a high standard.
- Good knowledge of the supplier market for all related commodities (parts & components, services,
- consumables)

Accountable to purchase materials, parts, equipment, and services which have been approved for purchase. Identify alternative suppliers and ensure compliance with national supply agreements and expedite orders.
