JOB SUMMARY


The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the safety, development, and performance of all team members in the multi-location department.

Provides leadership and guidance to others regarding tasks, methods, and quality standards.

The Supervisor coordinates cross-functionally with Quality, Customer Service, Operations, and Engineering departments to facilitate the scheduling and shipment of orders and materials.

This individual is responsible for receiving purchased goods and returns, filling orders, shipping products, and proper maintenance of finished goods and component inventory.

The Supervisor utilizes established means and methods to meet customer demands as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises employees in preparing, verifying, and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Guides, mentors, and develops talent into growth positions to include documented performance conversations and written reviews.
  • Maintains work environment and department to a high standard of cleanliness and organization
  • Ensures strict adherence to site QMS and safety protocols
  • Develops and facilitates daily VDM KPI boards and drives action plans with the team when appropriate for improvement.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. This involves reviewing Shipping Pick List and Commercial Invoices prior to being scanned, reviewing documents that have been scanned, and filing hard copy documents.
  • Maintains various digital and hard copy files and records.
  • Packages and ships orders in accordance with SOP's.
  • Ensures packages and purchases orders are received daily in accordance with SOP's handling of any issues that arise in a timely manner.
  • Supervises employees who count, weigh, and identify items in the shipping and receiving department ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensures the cost effectiveness of the delivery/receiving function, including the control of labor utilization minimizing excess hours, downtime, and overtime.
  • Utilizes knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Resolves all customer complaints and provides possible resolutions to eliminate recurrence.
  • Provides supervision, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping/receiving personnel.
  • Preparation and revision of detailed SOP documentation in both areas of shipping and receiving. Preparing ECR's, revising procedures, and training personnel on changes.
  • Promotes a positive working environment. Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee relations matters.
  • Provides initial and ongoing training to personnel related to job duties and performance expectations.
  • Investigates and resolves all CAPA's assigned. Implementing changes and training required personnel on changes made.
  • Ensures that Finished Goods are organized, neat, accurate, locations are assigned, and area is safe.
  • Addresses all inventory issues as they arise and ensures timely completion of inventory compliance including bimonthly Inventory Assessment, quarterly Inventory Verification, and annual Physical Inventory
  • Ensures that supplies are issued, ordered, and organized. (Handles any issues that may arise)
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
  • 7+ years' shipping/receiving experience in a manufacturing environment, medical device experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in supervising people or teams
  • Experience working collaboratively with crossfunctional teams in a matrixed organizational structure
  • Strong leadership competencies demonstrated through a solid history of career progression
  • Proficiency using MS Excel
