$36,000-$38,000
The University of Nebraska State Museum is seeking a full-time Public Programs and Volunteer Coordinator. Located in Morrill Hall on the UNL city campus, this position coordinates the museum's volunteer program.
A large and diverse group of volunteers contribute by providing visitor activities, event support, and research support in the museum collections.
The Coordinator is responsible for developing monthly programs that utilize volunteers, such as, but not limited to Science Café and Sunday with a Scientist.
The Coordinator works with UNL course instructors to provide service-learning opportunities to UNL students.The Coordinator partners with other science communication groups on campus and helps to lead adult-focused museum events, tours, and community outreach.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in natural history sciences, social sciences, education (with science or social science coursework), community development, or related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
One (1) year of experience managing volunteers (recruiting, training, and scheduling). Competency in word processing, spreadsheets, database entry/management, and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of best practices for volunteer programs. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations. Experience must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. Supervisory experience to include recruiting, training, and managing. Experience building relationships and working with volunteers. Experience writing policies, procedures, and/or training manuals or other resource materials. Management experience within a non-profit setting. Knowledge of museum trends. Demonstrated ability to manage volunteers in a museum, science center, zoo or aquarium environment (or similar non-profit institution). Knowledge of museum evaluation best practices. Excellent writing skills to assist with reports and grant applications.
