Overview:

As a Document Control Coordinator in our food manufacturing company, you'll be instrumental in upholding the highest standards of quality and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in the production of our food products.

Your role will involve implementing and maintaining robust quality assurance processes and procedures, and providing essential support to ensure our products meet or exceed industry standards for safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement document control procedures and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Coordinate the creation, review, approval, distribution, and retention of all documents related to food manufacturing processes, including but not limited to SOPs, work instructions, specifications, and forms.
Establish and maintain a centralized document management system, ensuring accurate version control and accessibility for authorized personnel.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Production, R&D, Purchasing, and Regulatory Affairs, to facilitate the timely review and approval of documents.
Conduct regular audits of document control processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established procedures.
Provide training and support to employees on document control procedures and system usage.
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices, implementing updates to document control processes as needed.
Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as required.
Generate reports and metrics to track document control performance and compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or related field.
Thorough understanding of food safety principles, practices, and regulatory requirements, with experience in food manufacturing and knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations.
Experience developing and implementing food safety and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP) in a manufacturing environment.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements and technical documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications for document management, data analysis, and reporting.
Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, PCQI) and/or quality assurance (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor) is preferred.
Prior experience in conducting food safety audits, inspections, and responding to regulatory inquiries is desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing and Walking:

Depending on the size of the manufacturing facility and the need for on-site inspections and audits, the QA Compliance Coordinator may need to stand and walk for extended periods.

Lifting and Carrying:

Occasionally, there may be a need to lift and carry inspection equipment or samples of raw materials or finished products, which could require some physical strength.

Bending and Stooping:
Inspecting production lines or conducting audits may involve bending or stooping to access equipment or examine processes closely.

Manual Dexterity:
Handling paperwork, documentation, and electronic devices such as tablets or laptops may require good manual dexterity.

Visual and Auditory Requirements:

The role may require visual and auditory acuity to inspect equipment, observe processes, and communicate effectively with team members.

Safety Gear:

In certain situations, such as entering production areas or conducting inspections in potentially hazardous environments, the QA Compliance Coordinator may need to wear appropriate safety gear, including protective clothing, gloves, goggles, or masks.

Environmental Conditions:

Working in a food manufacturing environment may expose the coordinator to various environmental conditions such as temperature fluctuations, noise, odors, and humidity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in an office and a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms.

The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery.
