    QUALIFICATIONS 1.

    Must have completed all requirements from an accredited University training program in the area of School Psychology to be recommended for internship as the final phase prior to achieving Licensure as a School Psychologist.

    Skills and Abilities 1. Relevant knowledge and experience in serving an educational organization in an instructional capacity. 2.

    Under the direct supervision of a licensed and tenured school psychologist, intern will demonstrate an ability to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders in facilitating continuous organizational improvement.

    3. Demonstrate a consistent record of facilitating, supporting and promoting educational, social, and professional equality and ethical decision making, 4. Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders within the organization in both verbal and written form. 5.

    Demonstrate the ability to utilize a calm demeanor to develop and maintain professional and productive relationships with all stakeholders 6.

    The school psychologist intern must demonstrate the ability to organize, lead, and complete assigned tasks as an individual or as part of a group.

    7. Ability to represent the district/school with a positive and professional manner. 8.

    Ability to relate to adolescents and teens in a positive and productive manner which includes an understanding of their developmental needs.

    9. Ability to multi-task and perform duties in a flexible manner for the purpose of facilitating positive student learning. 4.

    Physical Demands/Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.

    The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following will be performed under the direct supervision of a tenured, licensed school psychologist: 1.

    Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices. 2. Administer tests and recommend placement for all exceptional and new students. 3. Help identify within the school all types of exceptional children. 4. Maintain case records on all referred students. 5. Consult with staff regarding pre-referral interventions, including development, implementation, assessment, and/or need for modifications. 6. Confer with teachers and parents whenever necessary. 7. Attend IEP conferences on placement of individual students. 8. Prepare and submit required reports on special education programs. 9. Be a liaison between the school and community agencies. 10.Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings. 11. Interpret diagnosis to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and the student. 12.Make recommendations on ways to assist a student referred for examination.

    13.Conduct individual, group, or facilitative therapy for students whose diagnosed problem would benefit from appropriate short term intervention to improve education performance.

    14.Participate in case conferences when referred students are involved or as requested. 15.Serve as a resource person for teachers and other school personnel concerning learning deficits. 16.Participate in in-service training programs. 17.Attend scheduled PPS meetings as needed. 18.Keep abreast of new developments in the field. 19.Other duties as assigned by the Special Services Director.
