Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Manager is responsible for all aspects of the production operation and production efficiencies including coordinating and supervising activities of equipment and personnel throughout the facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Manufacturing Manager responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Applies knowledge of various processes and production methods
• Responsible for the line efficiency performance to meet plant committed efficiency to budget
• Manages machinery setup and adjustments
• Inspects products to ensure compliance to standards; oversees quality and recommends
modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within
the equipment limits
• Communicates all pertinent information between departments and between shifts on changes
to equipment, production schedules, production problems or any other related information;
• Works with employees on identifying, discussing solutions and implementing "fixes" on
machinery and equipment problems
• Responsible for ongoing PM&R E-maintenance and equipment check program adherence
• Performs and facilitates "on the job training" and/or coaching of team members
• Completes and/or administers documentation such as area or machine specific reports
• Active participant in safety programs and employee engagement
• Engaged in performance management for applicable team members
• Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
• 5 -7 years working experience in a manufacturing setting
• Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be available on nights or weekends to
provide additional support
• Ability to travel 10% throughout North America
Preferred Requirements
• 5+ years of Management or Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor's Degree
• Packaging industry experience
• Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing, 5S Experience
Competencies
• Proven ability to prioritize effectively and excellent time management skills
• Ability to change shifts and plant departments to cover absences or provide additional support
• Understanding of machinery and equipment, but with the ability to know when to assume the
responsibility and when to delegate
• Strong commitment to quality and safety
• Skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Proven problem-solving skills and experience using analytical approaches to problems
• Project management experience
• Proven oral and written communication skills
• Effective interpersonal and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completion
• Ability to work effectively both as an individual and in a team environment using collaborative
methods
• Must be committed to ongoing personal training and development
