    Salary:

    Level I:
    $2, ,428.91, paid bi-weekly

    Level II:
    $3, $3,942.80, paid bi-weekly

    III:
    $3, $4,556.42, paid bi-weekly

    Level IV:
    $4, $5,646.30, paid bi-weekly

    Level V:
    $5, $6,332.59, paid bi-weekly


    Examinations:


    Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.

    Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following:
    Investigation, oral exam and/or rating of the application.

    Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.


    Minimum Qualifications/ Employment Standards:

    Level I:

    Licensed by the California State Bar and the ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services; Basic knowledge of the principles of law and their application, trial procedure and the rules of evidence; legal research methods; Basic ability to present statements of fact, law and argument clearly and logically.


    Level II:

    Licensed by State Bar of California and one (1) year of full time criminal prosecution or two (2) years practice of law and ability to travel to locations outside the regular office to perform necessary legal services.

    III:

    Licensed by the California State Bar and two (2) years of full time experience in criminal prosecution or three (3) years practice of law and the ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services.

    Advanced knowledge of the principles of law and their application, trial procedure and rules of evidence; legal research methods; advanced ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically.


    Level IV:

    Licensed by the California State Bar and three (3) years of full time criminal prosecution or four (4) years practice of law and ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services.

    Thorough knowledge of the principles of law and their application; trial procedure and rules of evidence; legal research methods; thorough ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically.


    Level V:

    Licensed by the California State Bar and four (4) years full time criminal prosecution experience or five (5) years practice of law and ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services.

    Summary of Recruitment Bonus for Deputy District Attorney I/II/III/IV/V

    Recruitment Bonus:

    The County will provide all employees hired on or after April 22,2023 in a permanent capacity as a Deputy District Attorney or a Child Support Attorney a $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment bonus.

    The bonus shall be payable in full upon appointment by the District Attorney of Director of Child Support Services subject to completion of a five-year term of service with the hiring department.

    Current or recently graduated law students may be eligible for paid positions as extra help law clerks, even if they do not yet meet the license requirements for Deputy District Attorney.

    Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification.

    Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

    A background check may be conducted for this classification.


    Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

    This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.

    Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
