Description:


The position of Cashier I functions to provide various tasks related to accepting payments from Parking customers and providing assistance and customer service to visitors to the campus and patrons of Parking Services.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for receipt of fees from parking customers which includes verifying, if necessary, issuing receipts and depositing payments in the cash register when received.
  • Responsible for comprehensive, complete, and neat reports of daily business relate to parking customers. Reports include, starting tickets, ending tickets, total tickets sold, tickets returned, amount per ticket, total amount collected, voids, refunds, and no fees.
  • Responsible for verifying amount of payment received against amount of tickets issued or collected.
  • Accountable for discrepancies between cash collections, cash register readings, and other cash control procedures.
  • Responsible for providing positive, friendly, and courteous customer service to all Parking Service users, members of the University community, and the General Public.
  • Responsible for neat and clean personal appearance. Wearing the designated uniform is required when on duty.
  • Responsible for keeping the work station area clean, neat, and uncluttered.
  • As necessary, report all unusual situations, accidents, and suspicious people to the supervisor. Record the license number, make of car, and description of person violating rules, laws, or creating other problems.
  • As necessary, report customer concerns and complaints to the appropriate supervisor. Courtesy, understanding, and concern must be shown to all customers regardless of the situation.
  • Responsible for understanding various parking procedures and systems to facilitate answering customer questions.
  • Responsible for protecting individual integrity by accepting only the appropriate fees via the approved methods. Compromising fees or accepting gratuities is not allowed.
  • Responsible for securing the work station when departing and for all keys and locks assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
