Description
Clinic Supervisor/Nutritionist
Under the supervision of the WIC Program Manager, performs the functions of a WIC Clinic Supervisor in accordance with established guidelines; demonstrates knowledge of Federal and State regulations; performs all aspects of client nutrition education, including but not limited to high risk care plans; group classes; assessment of prescriptions for special formulas or foods; maintains professional and effective working relationship with WIC personnel at the State and local levels. The WIC Nutritionist performs supervisory functions by acquiring, maintaining and developing appropriate staff; performs certifications and other WIC related activities as deemed necessary; coordinates and collaborates with community agencies for promotion of the SCF-WIC program; drives to various WIC clinics throughout the service area.
**RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):** Supervises, plans, coordinates, and directs assigned WIC clinic operations and the work of others
Participates in staffing decisions including: PTO requests, attendance tracking, training, performance appraisal, and work load scheduling.
Monitors and assesses the quality and appropriateness of nutritional services by conducting quarterly chart audits and certification observations, implementing corrective action and tracking results
Ensures clinic services comply with federal and state policy and procedures; monitors clinic operations and implements corrective action.
Participates as a member of the WIC management team to develop, implement, and evaluate agency policies, procedures, and operations
Implements and monitors the clinic appointment system to ensure efficiency and compliance to federal processing standards
Provides direct client services by evaluating client data, assessing nutritional status, developing nutrition care plans, implementing nutritional therapy and counseling including breastfeeding support.
Resolves client/vendor complaints
Responsible for EBT inventory and handles returned WIC cards and resolution with the State WIC Office
Responsible for conducting monthly clinic meetings
Responsible for approving special formulas and formula inventory
Responsible for various reports required by the State WIC Program
Attends all state sponsored and agency required meetings
Responsible for coverage in WIC clinics due to employee absence
Travel to other SCF WIC sites as needed

Other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Administration
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:** Must be able to sit a table or desk for long periods of time with occasional standing, stooping walking, squatting or reaching.
Must be able to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without material handling equipment
Must have manual dexterity to use office equipment including but not limited to a copier, computer key board, or phone key pad
Must have the ability to hear and speak face to face, over telephone or in virtual meetings
Occasional travel by car, bus, airplane or train may be required as associated with attendance at conferences, meeting and other duties *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.*
**QUALIFICATIONS:** Education & Work Experience o A minimum bachelors degree from an accredited college with a major in dietetics; food and nutrition; public health nutrition. Skills & Abilities o Knowledge of supervisory techniques;
o Skill in the principles and practices relating to nutrition assessment, care planning, case management and care coordination, and nutrition counseling
o Knowledge of the principles of education including human behavior modification and skills in education/training techniques; Knowledge of the principles of breast feeding management and specific uses of infant feeding modalities
o Skill in analytical problem solving
o Skill in the principle and practices of counseling including interviewing, problem diagnosis, assessment and evaluation
o Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during work activities;
o Maintain a positive, open and objective attitude towards others including volunteers and interns
o Willing to engage, support, include and work with volunteers and/or interns on an on-going or as needed basis
o Knowledge of the regulations, policies, and procedures governing WIC and operational systems;
o Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using English language;
o Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and educational software.
o Must be able to utilize multiple technology platforms effectively: Personal computers (Desktop or Laptop), Tablets, Smart Phones, cloud-based software or other software as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
o Must have a valid Driver's License & auto insurance and maintain throughout the duration of employment
o Must have 3 years or more of a clean DMV record.
o Must have reliable transportation to travel to multiple locations in the Las Vegas valley area
o Must be approved by SCF insurer to be added to corporate auto insurance policy
o Ability to communicate fluently in English using both verbal and written communication is required
o Must be flexible and adaptable to changing schedule and/or work tasks
o Must have the ability to maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients and any others contacted during work activities
o Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and work independently with limited direction from supervisors
o Must listen intently and ask questions to ensure full understanding
o Must interact sensitively, non-judgmentally, effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, economic, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyle preferences programs.
o Must maintain a positive, open, and objective attitude towards others (clients, co-workers or managers)
o Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently and display a strong attention to detail
o Properly utilize knowledge of policies and procedures mandated by the WIC State Program is required
o Must submit negative TB results (One-Step Skin Test or Chest X-Ray) prior to hire date and duration of employment
o Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing and maintain a drug-free workplace Preferred o Bilingual (English-Spanish or English-American Sign Language) speaking and writing skills helpful
o One or more years of experience developing and teaching group nutrition education classes is preferred
o Previous experience in WIC program desirable
o Breastfeeding education: CLE, CLC, IBCLC desirable
o Registered Dietitian or registry eligible preferred.
