OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.

Description:


To support students with special needs in a low-incidence program under the direction of the supervising classroom teacher, Program Chair, and Director of Pupil and Personnel Services.


Qualifications:


Must have one of the following:

  • Valid Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with Paraprofessional endorsement.
  • Valid Professional Educators License.
  • Valid Illinois Substitute Teaching License.
  • MUST be able to understand fundamentals of teaching English as a Second Language.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity, excellence and high expectations for all students and a commitment to the academic and personal well-being of each student.
  • Help establish and manage student learning in a safe, positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Support ELL students in understanding course instruction and materials
  • Support teachers in implementing instruction and instructional materials that address the needs of ELL students in a manner that promotes comprehension, learning, and work completion.
  • Provide students with academic, social and behavioral support during the day.
  • Assist students in activities associated with student learning within the school.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents and appropriate school personnel regarding student needs and progress.
  • Coordinate daily schedule in collaboration with the World Languages Division Head.
  • Support teachers and WL Division Head with monitoring student progress.
