- Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to ease any anxiety young patients may have about dental visits.
- Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures, helping them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Assist the dentist during examinations, treatments, and procedures by providing the necessary instruments and materials.
- Coronal Polish and take digital dental x-rays, ensuring proper positioning and image quality.
- Help manage and maintain a clean and organized dental treatment area, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Educate children and parents about proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
- Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to prevent tooth decay.
- Support the dentist in managing and recording patient information, treatment plans, and clinical notes accurately.
- Provide chairside assistance during procedures, keeping patients comfortable and informed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Collaborate with the dental team to develop effective treatment plans for patients.
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric dentistry and implement best practices into daily routines.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred.
- DANB x-ray certification.
- Experience working in a pediatric dental setting is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with children and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in helping young patients have positive dental experiences.
- Familiarity with dental software for charting and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
