    Job Overview

    This announcement will be accepting candidate resumes from 27 March 2024 to 3 May 2024.
    • Serves as the Technical Advisor (TA) to the Space Component Technology Branch (RVSV) Chief. Plans, coordinates, evaluates and advises on all Space Force research and development efforts in RVSV. Responsible for technical authority for a diverse set of critical R&D activities for advanced spacecraft component technologies that are leading to transformational warfighting capabilities for the U.S. Space Force.
    • Identifies internal and external customer funding opportunities and guides quality proposal development for the identified opportunities. Makes cross-division and cross-directorate connections to promote integrated warfighter solutions. Initiates and leads branch directives for mission-driven technology innovation that is underpinned by digital engineering. Promotes branch culture that seeks to generate out-of-the-box, game-changing, high-impact ideas.
    • Review all branch publications for technical quality and OPSEC to ensure branch-generated knowledge is appropriately communicated to the broader DoD, government, industry, and academic community. Responsible to participate on the RV Directorate, Chief Scientist's Technology Advisory Council, making recommendations on Innovative Research Proposals, postdoc hiring and assignment, and new science and technology initiatives.
    • Consults with the branch chief, senior management, scientists, and industry to determine the state-of-the-art and direction of technology research and development.
    • Leads preparation and orchestration of the annual branch Technical Quality Review (TQR) and leads response to any RV Chief Scientist recommendations for improvement or changes noted during the TQR.
    • Makes presentations on technology status and breakthroughs to senior management, government review panels, academia and the commercial community. Directs the technical efforts of critical programs with significant impact to the Air Force mission. Plans and coordinates periodic technical seminars with other TAs across RV.
    • Review all branch technical reports for technical quality and operations security concerns. Performs university outreach to help develop future Air Force scientists and engineers. Performs own research and/or industry and other government agency outreach to ensure Branch remains at or pushed the state-of-the-art in space-based sensor technologies. Advise branch advises scientists and engineers on technical career development, and acts as branch Coordinator for space summer scholars, summer research faculty, NRC fellows, and SMART interns.
    • Oversees branch basic research technical efforts & progress, and AFOSR/DII/LRIR/SBIR proposal direction. Coordinate tours of branch laboratories among the branch research teams. Leads gathering and submission of information on all branch research progress each week to division and directorate.

    Required Qualifications
    • United States Citizenship
    • Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution
    • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
    • Pass a random drug test; This is a drug testing position (TDP)
    • Must be able to obtain Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) Level 2 (Practioner) under the Engineering & Technical Management Functional Area
    • The selectee will have 24 months to meet the APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
    Desired Qualifications
    • One year of specialized experience indicating the capacity and skills for working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams
      and using these approaches to find and solve complex problems. Such experience may also include training, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, writing background, editing job roles, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, published work in refereed technical journals, and/or briefings to large groups.
