Location: Remote, but NNOHA is based in Denver, Colorado

Salary: $125,000 - $145,000 based on experience

About National Network for Oral Health Access

National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) is a nationwide membership association that exists to promote access to oral health care for underserved populations by encouraging community health centers (CHCs) to start and maintain dental programs. NNOHA provides training, technical assistance, and networking for oral health professionals who work in the safety net. Members include dentists, dental hygienists, other oral health professionals, community health center leadership, primary care associations, medical professionals, and others interested in the NNOHA mission.

NNOHA envisions a future in which individuals and communities are aware of the importance of oral health to overall health, engage in recommended oral health practices, and receive affordable, high-quality oral health services. Achieving this vision requires everyone to have access to care, regardless of income or geography.

The Opportunity

The Executive Director position at NNOHA is an unparalleled opportunity to spearhead transformative leadership and management for the organization, under the guidance of the esteemed Board of Directors and in collaboration with our dedicated members.

In this pivotal role, the Executive Director will orchestrate NNOHA's strategic initiatives, overseeing key pillars such as fundraising, advocacy, and communications, which encompasses the management of the website and listserv. As the organization's ambassador, the Executive Director will carry the mantle of spokesperson responsibilities and cultivate impactful partnerships to advance our mission.

Beyond these core responsibilities, the Executive Director will be a dynamic force in determining and addressing the evolving needs of the organization from both a business and administrative perspective. Collaborating closely with the Board of Directors, this role is central to ensuring the alignment of strategic goals and the seamless execution of NNOHA's vision.

Impact Areas

Vision and Strategy:

• Formulate and execute strategic plans for program operations that align with NNOHA's mission.
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and key stakeholders in the strategic planning process.
• Stay abreast of field developments and adjust strategies to remain current and effective.
• Regularly evaluate and report on the progress made toward achieving strategic objectives.

Leadership and Management:

• Articulate a compelling vision for the organization's future, providing visionary leadership.

• Communicate the organization's vision and strategy effectively to all stakeholders.

• Regularly evaluate and refine strategies based on feedback, data, and evolving circumstances.

Stakeholder and Relationship Management:

• Demonstrate proven experience in advocating and collaborating with various stakeholders, such as government agencies, community organizations, and healthcare partners.
• Exhibit strong networking skills to cultivate relationships with influential figures in the oral health field, including on the national level.
• Establish and sustain partnerships with external organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to augment program effectiveness and reach.
• Engage with a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, community leaders, and donors.
• Build and nurture relationships that actively contribute to supporting NNOHA's vision and objectives.

Fundraising and Communication:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy in alignment with NNOHA's mission.
• Set specific fundraising goals to meet the organization's financial needs.
• Represent NNOHA in public forums, advocating for oral health policies and initiatives.
• Increase awareness of NNOHA's programs and impact through effective communication strategies.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts, providing regular updates and seeking their support in donor cultivation.
• Develop strategies for resource mobilization to realize the organization's vision.
• Explore diverse funding sources, partnerships, and revenue streams for sustained support.

Program Operations:

• Will spearhead the creation and development of oral health programs targeting specific populations.
• Supervise the execution of programs, ensuring alignment with established goals and objectives.
• Institute and supervise quality assurance measures to uphold excellence in program delivery.
• Introduce and manage processes for continuous improvement, enhancing program efficiency and impact.
• Develop and implement performance metrics to gauge the impact and effectiveness of programs.
• Conduct regular evaluations of program outcomes, making data-driven decisions for performance enhancement.

Financial Management:

• Direct the Finance Department and devise an annual budget.
• Establish sound financial policies for optimal resource use.
• Report budget discrepancies to Board committees.
• Direct staff to align activities with budget guidelines.
• Ensure adequate funds for organizational operations.
• Ensure program compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes for program adjustments.
• Oversee data collection, analyze program outcomes, and create regular stakeholder reports.
• Develop and manage program budgets efficiently.
• Assess potential risks to the organization's vision and strategy.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies for effective navigation.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Expertise

Education and Experience:

• Master's degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Public Administration, or similarly related field OR a minimum of 10 years of healthcare management/nonprofit leadership.
• 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience, including public health experience.

Leadership and Management Skills:

• Proven track record in maximizing business and generating revenue streams.
• Effective management skills, including recruitment, hiring, supervision, evaluation, and conflict resolution.
• Drive high-level strategy and lead diverse teams.

Financial and Organizational Skills:

• Understand nonprofit financial management and budgeting.
• Execute organizational growth, including budget/finance, program development, and marketing/public relations/human resources.
• Strong business acumen and visionary leadership.

Communication and Advocacy:

• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Strong commitment to NNOHA's mission and values for improved oral health.
• Maintain regular communication with the Board.

Industry Knowledge:

• Deep understanding of oral health and the broader healthcare landscape.
• Adaptability to changes in healthcare and innovative problem-solving.
• Substantial leadership experience, preferably at the executive level.
• Understanding of industry impacts at the local, state, and national levels

Preferred Experience:

• Proven experience in the oral health or healthcare industry.
• Previous work with non-profit organizations, especially in the health sector.
• Experience leading a membership organization.

Travel Requirements

Regular attendance at conferences, training sessions, and other events is essential for the Executive Director to acquire and maintain the proficiency necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Physical Demands

In the performance of job duties, the Executive Director is expected to engage in activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and hearing. Given the extensive use of computers in this role, the employee should possess sufficient hand dexterity for keyboard use and be able to read from a computer screen. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
