THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the continuity of nursing care and services to all residents in the Civil or Forensic Unit, ensuring compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Requirements.

You will plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the provision of nursing services operations; evaluate the nursing care and treatment process to ensure compliance with the medical, psychiatric and nursing regime, and that optimum care and treatment are provided; coordinate and collaborate nursing care and treatment with other disciplines; and assist in the maintenance of nursing treatment and nursing quality improvement and risk management standards.

You will also be responsible for the management and coordination of nursing care and treatment of mentally ill residents for which the care, custody and control are accomplished in a clean, safe and secure environment.

Additionally, you will supervise Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisors and Registered Nurse Supervisors, as well as other nursing staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours during training are on 1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Work hours after training are 3rd shift: 11:15 PM to 7:15 AM, Monday through Friday, 30 minute lunch.

  • You must be able to flex your schedule to accommodate labor management meetings approximately four times per month on day shift.
  • Overtime as needed. This may change based on operational need.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Two years as a Registered Nurse Supervisor or three years as a Registered Nurse Instructor (commonwealth titles) in a facility providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability;
    or:
  • Six years of professional nursing experience, which includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; and a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration.
A master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of the required general professional nursing work experience;
or:


  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.

Special Requirements:


  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
