Funga is a public benefit corporation harnessing forest fungal networks to address the climate crisis. We combine modern DNA sequencing and machine learning technology with breakthrough research on the forest microbiome to put the right native, biodiverse communities of mycorrhizal fungi in the right place. This leads to more quality wood created more quickly, more carbon sequestered, and more resilient forests. We serve land partners seeking to implement regenerative forestry practices that improve productivity and sustainability, and corporate carbon buyers building high-quality carbon removal portfolios with strong social and biodiversity outcomes. Years of research and in-field trials have gone into developing this powerful technology for improving the health and performance of forestry projects, which are vital to addressing many of our current crises. We are in the middle of a climate crisis, and Funga can pull down tens-of-millions of tons of additional CO2e every year. We are in a global shortage of timber and building materials, and Funga can accelerate the delivery of board-feet in a way that improves managed forest ecologies, rather than destroys them. The current biodiversity crisis has roots underground where sub-soil ecologies have been destroyed and homogenized.

Funga aims to catalog and restore foundational soil biodiversity. Global businesses and governments need high-quality carbon removal solutions to enable emissions reduction and attainment of net zero goals. Funga is building a new class of sustainable, high-quality carbon removal with the potential to achieve enormous scale in the next five to ten years.

Delivering on this potential requires translating complex science and technology into meaningful business outcomes. We are looking for an experienced Head of Product with a track record of creating compelling and differentiated product narratives through design and execution.

This role will report to the Chief Growth Officer, and is a highly cross-functional role that requires close collaboration with company leadership as well as the Science, Operations and Marketing functions. The role will be responsible for developing the Product Management function at Funga in service of increasing our success within our existing carbon product and new product offerings. You will oversee new product innovations and optimize the efficiency and adoption rates of existing products. The role will involve navigating the complex and rapidly evolving voluntary carbon and forestry markets. While experience in natural climate solutions and forestry is desired, more important is your excitement to implement new approaches, problem solve, and think creatively.

• Establish the foundations for strategic product planning and management, ensuring a strong connection between Fungas core technology and evolving customer needs.
• Define and align core teams around the product vision, strategy and roadmap.
• Create and present product innovations, strategic decision proposals, as well as the calculation of product business cases.
• Define, monitor and report on Fungas relevant OKRs and control of the measures to achieve the objectives and key results set.
• Build and lead a cross functional product team in which you motivate and achieve steady improvements in your area.
• Help grow Funga into a global forestry solution for climate, forest restoration and regenerative forestry.

• 5-8 years of product experience including strategic design, testing, building, and operationalizing products for customers.
• 3+ years of experience in forestry, nature-based climate solutions, or carbon markets preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in go-to-market planning, testing and execution.
• Effective communicator, skilled presenter & growth-minded interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record of strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong track record of working collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal skills - this role will interact with customers as well as our internal science, operations, and business teams.
• Resourceful and self-motivated for this growth opportunity.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and collaborative climate.
• Excited to lay the groundwork to scale multiple products and management in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous people management and team development experience preferred.
• Previous startup experience preferred (i.e. Series C or earlier).

The expected salary range for this role is $120,000-160,000 USD, with actual salary based on qualifications and experience.
