Your role:


Reporting to the Global N&I Forecasting lead, this role conducts rigorous analyses and develops short-term and strategic long-term forecasts for N&I commercial assets.

This role also leads all US performance metric identification, analytics, and reporting, including identifying key drivers of performance and developing goals/targets to drive the business.

They partner with key US stakeholders and global teams to ensure that the US perspective is incorporated into the long-term Strategic forecast (SD) and that short term/demand forecasts are aligned with both internal and external demand factors.

They are a strategic partner and objective voice of the customer/market when advising the commercial teams as to the implications of market insights and dynamics to the commercial potential of company assets.


Specific responsibilities include:


  • Lead the US annual longrange planning (SD) process for N&I commercial assets, working across functionally (global, Business Excellence, Finance, and Managed Markets) to gain input on assumptions to drive forecast models. Partner with global colleagues to drive transparency of US view and assumptions and voice of US into the SD process.
  • Develop and maintain monthly updates to a shorter term, operational forecast that is developed and refined in close collaboration with other US colleagues, including US / Global Medical, US / Global Marketing, GSI, Finance, MAPS, etc., including alignment on assumptions and various scenarios.
  • Ensure the robustness and credibility of forecasts by:
  • Appropriately utilizing relevant and robust secondary data inputs
  • Ensuring deep understanding of primary market research (managed by another team member) both to influence research design and to appropriately utilize research output
  • Developing criteria to evaluate various data inputs (syndicated demand, trade, etc.) to improve predictive value of forecasts
  • Validating and consolidating Competitive Intelligence information with Medical and Commercial teams
  • Lead the identification, development, and measurement of key performance metrics (KPIs) and lead monthly KPI crossfunctional team meetings synthesizing data and analysis of market trends, product performance, market opportunities and potential risks.
  • Serve as the point person for global connectivity and alignment related to Performance Assessment to ensure KPIs for senior leadership reports are well aligned with US perspectives.
  • Ensure cohesive and synthesized learning based on the analysis, integration and correlation of available data sources such as secondary market audits, primary market research, competitive intelligence, sales analytics data, financial data, supply chain data, managed markets data.
  • Ensure that all business decisions are supported by unbiased, fully objective analyses and challenge stakeholders in circumstances when assumptions/decisions are not rooted in insights, data and evidence.
  • Communicate effectively about the forecast and all assumptions, data and sources and performance trends (market and product) with senior management. Brief relevant stakeholders, colleagues, and managers so they understand the assumptions and implications of those forecasts.

Minimum Requirements


You must have strong analytical and forecasting modeling skills as well as solid leadership skills and the ability to work constructively within a team environment.

A thorough understanding of various time-series and patient-based forecasting techniques is required as well as excellent communication and presentation skills for interaction with C level and SVP/VP level management.

It will be important for the person in this role to have the ability to influence others with supporting information and logic and a strong ability to analyze unrelated and sometimes incomplete data sets to make significant decisions about EMD Serono's US N&I business.
