Your Impact:
Jacobs is seeking for Database Engineer to support its federal client in Northern VA

The ideal candidate:

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.

Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases.
Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements.
Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

Evaluates, sizes and selects technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and application databases.

Writes and tunes SQL queries for performance and scalability. Implements comprehensive backup and database replication solutions.

Here's What You'll Need:

Bachelors and 11 years, or Associate and 15 years; or 15 years' experience

ISSA/TS/SCI++ clearance

Experience with:

Capacity planning.
Supporting implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
Managing IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
Providing support to IT systems including: day to day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client problems.
Performing server and storage capacity management and planning for the most complex and critical systems.
Recommending and implementing process and tool improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's change management and configuration management processes and systems
Managing, monitoring, and administering database system performance and schedule activities.
Performing optimization and tuning of data loads and extractions.
Installing and configure database environments and associated storage systems.
Performing backups/restores, and archive data.
Designing, Developing, and Maintaining database applications within the cloud environment for new applications development or the transition of legacy applications to the cloud environment.

Technical Knowledge

Data base management system software — Database management software; Microsoft SQL Server;
Development environment software — C, Microsoft Visual Basic; Prolog; Restructured extended executor REXX
Metadata management software — AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler; Data modeling software; IBM Rational Data Architect.

Visual Paradigm DB Visual architect

Knowledge/Skills:

Experience interpreting data models and developing database structures; using standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models; and implementing and troubleshooting programming changes and modifications.
DBA support of databases like Oracle
Knowledge of security requirements for databases, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures.
Experience configuring, managing and maintaining the operation of complex relational databases; familiarity with UNIX and Windows operating systems.
