- Be knowledgeable in and able to recognize or differentiate between all of the various types of produce merchandise including differences between varieties of similar classes of produce (ie., apples and lettuces) and departmental product differences (ie., Service Deli vs. Deli Dairy an Grocery vs. International Grocery);
- Assist courtesy clerks in bagging merchandise according to company policy;
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt courteous assistance;
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures;
- Handle damaged or spoiled products and "go-backs".
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed.
- Memorize produce item codes for faster service.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use both hands to handled objects, tools or controls;
- Frequently walk, talk, or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; occasionally crouch or kneel;
- Be able to lift or exert up to 15 lbs frequently and occasionally lift or exert up to 30 lbs;
- Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves;
- Have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies.
- Have sufficient memory retention skills to memorize PLU +codes.
