Have you ever wanted to manage an aerospace software development team that is responsible for flight, engine, weapon, and/or air system controls?


The Digital Controls group is looking for a leader with embedded software expertise and the ability to lead/supervise large teams of software engineers through the entire DO-178C software development process.

The position will manage the Engine Control Software team for the Pratt & Whitney PurePower and Commercial Engines. The state-of-the-art Engine Control software provides flight & mission critical control capabilities for main aircraft engines.

This is a HYRBID position. Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

What
YOU will do:


  • Provide software engineering estimations for varying control products
  • Formulate manpower staffing plans based on multiple program scopes, schedules, and goals
  • Create detailed software development execution plans that align with program budget and schedule constraints
  • Lead software engineering teams through the execution of planned development activities
  • Improve the processes, methods and organizational health of the digital controls team specific to software design, verification, and certification
  • Ensure software engineering development efforts are performed to DO178C standards
  • Develop and mentor software engineering associates with a strong customer centric culture empowered through trust

Education & Experience:


  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience
    or **an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
    or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience

Qualifications you must have:


  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Skills We Value:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Proficiency in embedded computing systems/architectures.
  • Master's degree and/or MBA
  • Experiencing managing and mentoring a team of professionals.
  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations
  • Experience with strategic & resource planning
  • Experience with Control System principles
  • Experience with RTCA DO178C, DO254, and DO297 or other relevant safety critical development guidance
  • Experience with development tools like ClearCase/Clearquest, Polarian ALM, Polyspace, Coverity, and GitLab
  • Experience with operating systems like Wind River VxWorks, DeOs, and LynxSecure
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, C, Ada, and assembly
