- Monitor system performance and availability using system monitoring tools.
- Perform initial triage of system alerts to determine their severity and impact.
- Respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and resolving system issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration changes.
- Escalate incidents to higher–tier technicians or engineering teams as necessary.
- Document incident details, actions taken, and lessons learned for future reference and analysis.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Active Interim Secret Security clearance with ability to obtain TS
- Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive –M for Information Assurance Technician Level 1 or Information Assurance Manager Level 1 or obtain and approved Incident Responder certification within 6 months of the date of hire
- Technical Training, Certifications, or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 1 year (2+ preferred) technical experience
- Department of State employee or contractor experience preferred but not required
- User experience with system monitoring tools such Splunk and ScienceLogic.
- User experience with Tenable Security Center and Symantec Endpoint Protection
- Familiarity of Cisco Switches and Firewalls and VMWare Products
- Working knowledge of various operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux.
- Strong understanding of network, compute, and storage concepts.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.
- Excellent problem–solving and communication skills.
