    The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time, Operations Research Analyst (GS T13) to work at the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.

    Come work for the Department of the Air Force Studies and Analysis where you can join a diverse team of mathematicians, engineers, and data scientists working to provide analysis backed by data to the highest echelons of Air Force/Space Force leadership.


    Where you will tackle questions such as:
    "What will the next Space Force satellite be?" or "What is the next generation aircraft the Air Force will employ?" We are looking for team members with strong critical thinking/technical skills; bonus points if you have experience coding in Python/R and/or translating large datasets into digestible visualizations to a non-technical audience. -Salary $82,764 - $153,354 -Telework not authorized -Travel authorized up to 25% -This is not a remote position-U.S. Citizenship required.

    • Three to five years' experience requested.
    -This position meets the professional exemption for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR Must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret SCI security clearance and be eligible for special access programs. -This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use. -Must exhibit a high degree of judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. -A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired.

    At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics.

    At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.

    • Knowledge of computer coding techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
    -Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. -Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts.

    • Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.
    -Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use computer models and simulation techniques. -Knowledge of Air Force cost databases to include the Air Force Total Ownership Cost (AFTOC) and Program and Budget Enterprise System (PBES) highly desired, but not required.
