    Description

    **Job Title:** Family Services Specialist

    Company:** Virginia Beach Department of Human Services (VBDHS)

    Salary Range:** $49,944.20 to $85,348.53 per year

    • A hiring bonus of $2,500 is available for this position to new hires.
    • $500 bonus in the first paycheck
    • $750 bonus upon meeting performance goals
    • $1,250 bonus after one year of employment

    The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is looking for a dedicated social work professional to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide case management services for children and families involved with Child Protective Services investigations or family assessments. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety, well-being, and permanency of children in need.

    **Key Responsibilities:**

    • Provide case management services for families facing complex challenges
    • Facilitate meetings to build relationships with children and families
    • Refer clients to appropriate services
    • Engage with children and families to address specific needs
    • Conduct assessments and document client interactions
    • Collaborate with team members and legal professionals
    • Assess child safety and respond to emergencies
    • Prepare service plans and attend court hearings
    • Participate in on-call duties
    • Present cases before the Family Assessment & Planning Team

    Minimum Requirements:

    Must have a Bachelor's degree in a human services field and relevant work experience. A valid driver's license is required for all positions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    BSW or equivalent, MSW or equivalent, one year of case management experience, crisis intervention experience, and court experience.

    Special Instructions:

    This position will be open until filled. Applicants will be reviewed continuously. The selected candidate will be placed as either a Family Services Specialist I or II based on qualifications.
