    Overview

    Viskase Osceola's Production Supervisor

    role demands a well-rounded manufacturing individual with a combination of leadership, technical, safety oversight, and communication skills to effectively manage production activities in the Chemical, Extrusion, Drying Area at the Osceola plant. This is a critical supervisory position that requires strong leadership, technical skills, and a commitment to safety.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Production Planning and Control: Plan and control production and waste activities in the chemical areas, ensuring adherence to budget standards and production schedules. Provide explanations for any variances.
    • Line Responsibilities: Take on line responsibilities for a specific area within the Chemical, Extrusion, Drying Area.
    • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, train, motivate, and develop the production team associates. Foster a cohesive group that works well together and delivers results. Ensure the team's future growth and development.
    • Production Monitoring: Monitor and maintain records of daily production activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the manufacturing processes.
    • Quality and Productivity Goals: Monitor area operations to maintain and achieve quality and productivity goals, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Operating Procedures: Update, develop, and recommend operating procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Personnel Issues: Review and address personnel issues, recommending corrective action to department management and HR.
    • Communication and Information: Provide information and service to management on operational matters, fostering effective communication channels.
    • Safety Oversight: Lead and provide training to emergency brigade members, ensuring adherence to all local and corporate safety policies. Promote department and overall plant safety objectives.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED required; an AA degree or higher is preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing plant, with a track record of supervising a medium-sized hourly team (20 or more).
    • **Technical Skills: **Troubleshooting experience in electrical and mechanical equipment, ideally with knowledge of chemical processes.
    • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage, mentor, coach, and develop a team.
    • **Process Understanding: **Ability to follow product and chemical flow, understanding processes involving pipes, valves, and chemical control.
    • Safety Oversight Experience: Experience in safety oversight for your shift, including incident report writing.
    • Payroll: Error-free timekeeping using Kronos.
    • Software Skills: Intermediate level skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
    • Math Skills: Strong math skills and aptitude.
