Position Overview:
Is responsible for all aspects of clinical study performance.
Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications.
Adheres to hospital polices, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws/regulations and codes to promote a quality, highly reliable patient experience.
- Recruits meritorious Phase II and Phase III clinical research studies with associated funding appropriate to the patient population.
- Consults with hospital, clinic and community nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, physicians and other health care providers concerning clinical research issues.
- Collaborates with other clinical departments as appropriate in development and implementation of clinical research studies.
- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
- Mentors and fosters a constructive teaching environment that helps students and new teammates build confidence in their skills, knowledge and abilities.
EDUCATION:
- Other: Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- RN-Registered Nurse of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Verbal and written communication skills for frequent and challenging contact with physicians, employees, patients and patient families; requires patience and compassion.
- Analytical skills for interpretation of clinical studies, research and other related materials.
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and International Guidelines related to Good Clinical Practices in clinical research.
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations.
- Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including nonmedical people.
