Duties:


Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in Information Technology principles, concepts and methods to support Information Technology systems and services.

This position starts at a salary of $139, GS-14, Step 1) to $181, GS-14, Step 10).

In this Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Security) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals


Typically work assignments include:

  • Offering administrative direction as firstline supervisor, communicates professionally, organizational balance, and oversees team of Information Technology Specialists (INFOSEC).
  • Overseeing all CBP IT and Cybersecurity related activities, focusing on vulnerabilities, compliance, IT infrastructure, and IT solutions, ensuring all CBP systems, FedRAMP, and On Prem FISMA systems maintain compliance with all DHS and CBP regulations.
  • Recommending process improvements, technological pilot results, and program gap resolution in instance of normal staff nonresolution.
  • Coordinating with other unit supervisors to establish and formulate workload objectives, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Managing nonroutine employee training needs, expense validation, overtime and travel need and ensures proper disciplinary actions are carried out involving nonsupervisory reports.

Along with the four competencies listed above you must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience described below to qualify based on experience.

Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Managing systems security Certification and Accreditation, assessment and authorization and authority to operate processes.
  • Preparing IT security assessments and or other IT security technical reports
  • Creating and implementing higherlevel security requirements such as those resulting from laws and regulations
