- Create complete sub plans that allow any person to step in at anytime
- Perform health screening services such as vision and hearing
- Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers
- Maintain clinical records
- Assist teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education
- Serve as a liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment
- Monitor immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety
- Oversee medication administration, healthcare procedures, and develop healthcare plans
- Provide health advice to school educational teams, such as Special Education and the IEP Team and/or 504 Plan Team
- Develops and implements student health plans
- Interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel
- Initiates referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow through processes
- Provides ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies
- Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students
- Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases
- Provides health education and anticipatory guidance
- Provides direct health education, and health counseling to assist students and families in making decisions on health and lifestyles that affect their physical, emotional, and mental health
- Other duties as assigned
- Current Registered Nurse license for State of Delaware; must maintain a valid license.
- B.S.N. required - higher preferred
- CPR / AED Certification active within 6 months
- 3-5 years of acute health care and medical documentation experience
- Prior School Nurse experience preferred
- Prior Pediatric Care experience preferred
- Knowledge of ESchool preferred
- Comparable salary with other local districts and charter schools based on education and experience

The Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence (BASSE) is a free public charter school that will grow to serve grades 6 through 12 in Sussex County, Delaware. Opening in the fall of 2024 with grades 6, 7, and 8, BASSE aims to provide a personalized academic experience focusing on service-learning and leadership opportunities for our students and staff. Inspired by our school's namesake, Bryan Stevenson, a prolific social justice activist and lawyer from Milton, Delaware, the BASSE community has dedicated its mission to proximity.
