As the Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for generating new business for the lottery and will provide overall strategic direction for current accounts, attract new accounts, and develop strategies to increase revenue.

The Business Development Manager will focus on growing the lottery retailer network through cold calling new businesses and following up on warm leads.


What You'll Do:


  • Strengthen the mission of the Lottery, which is to support Arizona programs for the public benefit by maximizing net revenue in a responsible manner.
  • Research the retail landscape and potential selling locations for retail lottery.
  • Source, monitor, and evaluate lottery industry trends & data to determine viability in Arizona market, meeting regularly with management and stakeholders to discuss strategies to grow retail base and sales.
  • Generate new leads, identify and contact decision makers, screen potential business opportunities, and determine alignment with Lottery strategic plan.
  • Develop, lead, and facilitate pitch to potential retail opportunity. Focuse on larger multiunit potential retailers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with retail contacts, lottery personnel, and vendors. These activities include traveling to vendor offices, corporate accounts, and to a variety of retail locations across the state.
  • Develop professional business relationships with corporate accounts and identify strategies to create additional opportunities for sales growth.
  • Leverage project management techniques to plan, track, and manage largescale activities in multiple retail locations.
  • Supervise the New Retailer Specialists and Corporate Account Manager(s) to develop strategies for growing sales in existing corporate accounts, recruiting new retailers, and implementing strategies that support the Lottery's Strategic Plan.

Who You Are:


  • Highly motivated and selfstarter who takes the initiative with mínimal supervision, along with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization in a collaborative team environment
  • Great communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain rapport and relationships with a wide range of customers
  • Possess effective negotiating and conflict resolution

What You'll Bring:


  • Strong relationshipbuilding, negotiating, and conflictresolution skills
  • Highly developed presentation and public speaking skills (developing and delivering)
  • Sales analysis/BI literacy skills ability to work with, adapt, and extract insights from data
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or other closely related field of study
