Executive search is a specialized form of management consulting, with an emphasis on recruiting, talent acquisition, and human capital.

    PierceGray has two distinct service offerings: Executive Search for C-suite and leadership roles, and Team Builds which extends into middle management to support organizations as they scale. PierceGray specializes in building leadership teams at private equity firms and their portfolio companies. We have longstanding relationships with investment firms like Bain Capital, TPG Capital, Ares Management, and Warburg Pincus. We work across industries, including technology, healthcare, cosmetics, food & beverage, retail, apparel, and industrial manufacturing. Our clients include leading companies such as Lululemon, Chobani Greek Yogurt, Fender Guitars, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Canada Goose, and Jim Beam.

    Our executive team is comprised of former leaders from Deloitte, ExxonMobil, GE, and Alvarez & Marsal; our firm consists of employees from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, including consulting, recruiting, HR, non-profit, and higher education.

    The Role: Executive Search Internship – Summer 2024

    At PierceGray, Executive Search Interns are involved in day-to-day search and recruiting operations, with a focus on identifying candidates through LinkedIn research and internal candidate databases. Interns will also support the hiring process which can include interviewing candidates, participating in client meetings, and preparing client deliverables. Finally, interns own an independent project that helps contribute to the firms growing programing and infrastructure needs. Previous intern projects have included marketing programs, campus hiring strategies, personality assessments, diversity & inclusion, and data analysis initiatives.

    The Candidate: Experience & Requirements

    • Rising Junior, Senior, Master's student or Recent Grad
    • Able to work a minimum of 32 hours/week in the downtown Chicago office
    • Track record of extracurriculars, leadership, and academic achievement
    • Interest in executive search, consulting, recruiting, talent acquisition, or human capital
    • Strong verbal and written communication
    • Collaborative & team-oriented approach
    • A positive attitude and desire to make the most of your internship experience
    • Intellectual curiosity: Smart, curious, and a fast learner
    • Self-motivated and proactive approach to work: Driven to succeed in a fast-paced, high-growth company; strong work ethic, grit, and resilience
    • Project management: Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple projects concurrently with competing timelines and priorities
    • Exposure and interest in data analytics and data visualization tools
    • Analytical, strategic thinking, problem solving skills: Takes a strategic approach to solving open-ended problems, comfortable with ambiguity, solutions-oriented mindset
    • Relevant work experience and internships are valued but not required
