    Duties

    Selectee(s) will report to an assigned DOL office location on a regular basis and be eligible for telework as determined by agency policy. This is not a remote position. Offices are located in: Washington, DC; Beckley, WV; Pittsburgh, PA; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, MO; Denver, CO; Lakewood, CO; Dallas, TX; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Jacksonville, FL; Arlington Heights, IL; Sandy, UT; Triadelphia, WV. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) provides the infrastructure and support that enables DOL to perform its mission. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is a customer service organization dedicated to providing information DOL's key technology solutions and leadership. The Applications Software position performs work that involves the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, and support of new or existing applications software in support of Agency requirements.

  • Developing project plans for the design and development, testing, deployment, and maintenance phases of new and existing systems.
  • Translating systems requirements into applications prototypes/wireframes.
  • Planning and designing systems and applications architecture.
  • Designing and developing user interfaces.
  • Learning new software technologies and the use of automated tools as necessary and ensuring the rigorous application of information security and 508 compliance rules to the delivery of software applications.
  • Translates requirements and process logic into code using modular development techniques and OCIO's standard set of programming tools.
  • Works closely with the Operations support team(s) as needed to resolve issues relating to hardware and software integration and database development efforts, and with the Security team to validate system security and to update security documents as needed.
