GENERAL PURPOSE
Candidate agrees to volunteer for scheduled programming and attend other operations at the Plainfield Aquatic Centers indoor and/or outdoor facilities as requested.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to program instruction, program assistance, program documentation, participant safety, maintaining skills and volunteering at other Plainfield Parks and Recreation facilities as needed.
Volunteers are under the supervision and direction of the "on duty" manager at the location where the event or activity takes place.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A commitment to the program for the duration of said commitment.
Follow the direction of the program supervisor.
Follows all policies and procedures as described by the program supervisor.
Other related duties as agreed upon.
REQUIREMENTS
Formal application, an oral interview and criminal background check will be necessary.
Must not be convicted of crimes, including but not limited to; crimes against children (such as sexual misconduct and others) alcohol, drug, theft or vandalism crimes.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Basic understanding of programming and have experience teaching, coaching or instructing children, young adults and or adults. The volunteer may operate safety equipment including A.E.D., supplemental oxygen and other emergency care equipment. Will use instructional equipment during programming and in-service.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this opportunity.
While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is regularly required to endure physical stress such as holding children during swim instruction or completing a physical workout while instructing an aerobics course.
Such demands include lifting, carrying and moving large objects, potentially moving patrons during an emergency event and/or other related physical requirements involved in maintaining a reasonable standard of care.
The Volunteer may frequently lift and or carry up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that a volunteer encounters performing the essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer regularly works outside in adverse weather conditions. The volunteer frequently works in hot and/or humid conditions.
The volunteer may also regularly be required to get wet from entering the water or being in inclement weather conditions.
Benefits are not applicable for volunteer/intern roles.
