    Join Our Team as a Certified School Nurse (Full-Time)

    About Us: At Civitas Education Partners (CEP), we are dedicated to providing equal access to opportunities that break the cycle of poverty. We lead and support K-12 college preparatory schools to prepare graduates who become agents of change. CEP operates four campuses of Chicago International Charter School (CICS) which include CICS Ralph Ellison High School, CICS Northtown Academy High School, and CICS Wrightwood Elementary School.

    Position Summary: As a Certified School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in coordinating a comprehensive school health program to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. You will be responsible for various duties and responsibilities including coordination, teaching, health office management, communication, special education, professional growth, and administrative tasks.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Coordination:

    • Develop and administer a comprehensive school health program
    • Collect and analyze epidemiological and school health information
    • Establish and maintain accident/injury prevention programs
    • Assess health and safety needs of the school environment

    Teaching:

    • Provide staff in-service programs on health topics
    • Deliver health-related classroom instruction when necessary
    • Offer in-service to staff regarding students with specific medical diagnosis

    Health Office Management:

    • Maintain a user-friendly and organized health services facility
    • Work with the Student Services Team Leader to purchase and maintain health supplies
    • Manage the health services annual budget

    Communication:

    • Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians
    • Act as a liaison between home, school, and community health agencies
    • Ensure confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues

    Special Education:

    • Participate in the identification and placement of students in special education programs
    • Provide health counseling to parents and students in special education
    • Write health component sections of Individual Education Plans (IEP)

    Professional Growth:

    • Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field of education and nursing
    • Participate in health-related community activities
    • Actively engage in professional growth supervision processes

    Administrative:

    • Supervise assigned students
    • Attend scheduled meetings and in-service training
    • Maintain duties consistent with the mission of Civitas Schools

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (Required)
    • Professional Educator License with School Support Personnel (Required)
    • School Nurse Endorsement (Required)
    • Registered Nurse for the State of Illinois (Required)
    • Certified instructor for American Heart Association CPR and AED (Required)
    • Bilingual Spanish/English, Urdu/English, Arabic/English (Strongly Preferred)
