As aHigh School Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction- STEM. . .
You believe in creating an educational experience where students are able to see themselves reflected in the content of your class.
With the HS Principal and the Chief Academic Officer, set 6-12 instructional goals to ensure focused, grade level work across our science and math classes
Partner with the HS Principal, STEM Department Chairs and fellow Deans of Curriculum and Instruction to identify instructional trends, setting action plans, as needed
Analyze data on student achievement and assessment, using it to inform instruction and professional development
Ensure curriculum is aligned with MA Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards, relevant and rigorous enough to ensure fulfillment of school mission
Guide teachers and content areas to develop and implement high quality assessments, monitor and guide the type, variety and quality of student assessments, and drive purposeful use of assessment data and feedback
Analyze, share and interpret internal and external school assessments (SAT, MCAS, Star Reading, iReady etc.), ensuring data is used strategically to improve student performance
Observe 6-12 STEM classes regularly, and in service to identifying instructional and curricular trends
Coach up to ten teachers, aligned to our internal Effective Teaching Rubric and school priorities
Supervise Principals and Department Leads to ensure alignment on instructional vision.
Model and consistently communicate organizational standards for instruction, classroom culture, content knowledge and continuous learning
Communicate regularly with CAO, Principals, Assistant Principals and Department Leads, collaborating to problem solve and prioritize issues that impact classroom and / or school culture, retention of team, etc.
Participate in the hiring process for core instructional roles.
Review academic programs, initiatives and interventions, annually
Plan, lead and facilitate orientation for new and returning team members
Identify and coordinate external professional development opportunities for the team, as well as plan and facilitate internal professional development for the team to drive growth.
With the other members of the High School Leadership team, ensure the proper functioning of the school via structures and support for staff and students.
Qualifications Include...
Hold a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in the science or mathematics field of study
SEI Administrator endorsement
Has excellent written communication, strong organizational and time management skills
5-7 years of experience as a results-driven classroom teacher, preferably in leadership position, in a high-performing urban school
Technologically savvy in Office Suite programs, Google Suite programs and parallel educational programs
