    Description

    Position Summary: Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients, independent of patient location, according to clinical specialty. Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Minimum requirement of ten shifts per schedule, including two weekend shifts, and a summer and winter holiday. This position does not qualify for out of area float pay. Patient care assignment may include all age groups.

    • Responsibilities:
    • Deliver safe direct patient care as required
    • Ensure compliance with Hospital policies and procedures
    • Work with healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans
    • Assist with special tests and procedures and ensure proper consent has been obtained
    • Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel upon successful completion of preceptor training
    • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
    • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights and document and communicate clinical findings
    • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospital standards
    • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, attending in-services, and workshops
    • Follow patient safety policies, procedures, and protocols
    • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety
    • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
    • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and/or near misses in a timely manner
    • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care

    Qualifications:

    • Education:
    • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred)
    • Specialization in nursing
    • Experience:
    • 1 year directly related experience
    • 3 years directly related experience (preferred)
    • Bilingual in English and one or more of the following languages is preferred: Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
    • Credentials:
    • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
    • RN in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by New Mexico
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
    • Nationally Certified in area of specialty (preferred)
    • PALS
    • TNCC and/or ENPC
    • Physical Conditions:
    • Heavy work: exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for medium work.
    • Working Conditions:
    • Significant hazard: chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment
