Under the general supervision of the Agricultural Pest Control Supervisor (APC Sup), the incumbent is responsible for the daily operations of regional detection or eradication projects, including lead responsibility for the work force of seasonal and Pest Prevention Assistant (I, II, and III) employees, implementation of emergency detection/eradication projects, advancement of the Citrus Division's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals, strategic planning and training, and equipment operations and vehicle maintenance.
This position is located in Sacramento, Sacramento County.
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Provide guidance to seasonal and field staff employees in the techniques of Citrus pest detection, trapping, surveys, and eradication activities over a multicounty geographic area.
•Serve as committee member on CDFA's DEI Committee and subcommittees.
•Provide recommendations to APC Sup pertaining to the planning and implementation of cooperative citrus pest detection and emergency response activities.
•Oversee maintenance and operation of all types of treatment equipment, maintain an adequate inventory and perform calibration of treatment apparatus used for Foliar and/or ground application.
•Perform other job-related duties as requested by APC Sup.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are primarily conducted outdoors and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and weather, uneven terrain, and various noise levels. The incumbent will be exposed to pesticides, live insects, and various odors. The incumbent may work within an office/warehouse environment furnished with a variety of office equipment, which normally consists of desks, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, storage cabinets, filing bins, computers, computer peripherals, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
The incumbent must be able to work well under extreme time constraints, exercise excellent independent judgement, determine priorities and make appropriate assignments, allocate staff and resources to achieve maximum results, maintain focus under conditions of duress, maintain and be able to provide an accurate assessment of rapidly changing situations and anticipate problems and make program adjustments.
The incumbent must develop and/or understand program objectives and make decisions, accordingly, communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain liaison and cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work.
The incumbent may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Travel by State vehicle or other public transportation system to various locations in the project area, and potentially statewide, is required on a regular basis. Overnight travel may be required.
