Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday 4am - 12:30pm


PRIMARY PURPOSE:


The Quality Control Specialist ensures that products are routinely inspected and recorded once received, returned by customers, and through storage and distribution per company standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Quality Tasks:_
  • Using the companies' Q/C App, grade the quality of the product at all stages, using the companies' grading system.
  • Physically inspect, record and release all merchandise received.
  • Notify the procurement department of any discrepancies of incoming products, such as: wrong counts, wrong sizes, poor quality, rejected product, hold for buyer release, along with any other quality issues.
  • Document all discrepancies and distribute documentation to the appropriate Buyer and Director of Procurement and record for traceability.
  • Clearly identify any products to be put on hold and follow company quarantine & product release procedures.
  • Ensure all product movement and data is input into the WMS system bases on company procedures.
  • Report information to appropriate department supervisors when issues identified.
  • Perform daily quality checks on products from the system generated list.
  • Identify and remove products from inventory if poor quality or outdated.
  • Communicate with the procurement department for disposition of products not meeting company standards.
  • Promote a food safe culture by following the companies' Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Identify products stored inappropriately against allergen and/or organic policies, report to operation supervisors for corrective action.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with all associates, supervisors and managers.
  • Control, monitor and release products from being quarantined.
  • Driver Check-In_:
  • Confirm the return of merchandise rejected or returned by customer.
  • Inspect and grade merchandise that was returned using the company's system and procedures.
  • Receive RMAs in Produce Pro through Trip Entry, confirm quantity and condition of merchandise.
  • Receive printed RMA's and process paperwork for returns.
  • Identify extra product returned on a route or not delivered.
  • Assist with Inbound / Inhouse / Backhaul products, as available.
  • Using the Q/C App grade the quality of the merchandise being returned.
  • Other functions related to quality control as needed.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Learns and utilizes all company policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate or equivalent with experience in the produce industry.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and supervisors/managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages and volume.

MENTAL ABILITIES:


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
