    Description

    City and Country School seeks an Art Teacher for the 2024–2025 academic year, beginning in late August 2024.

    Job Description

    The Art Teacher reports to the applicable Division Director and is an integral part of the Specials program. They inspire students to express themselves without bounds or criticism, cultivate natural curiosity, and develop a deep sense of appreciation for various artforms and mediums.

    Responsibilities

    • Encourages lifelong appreciation for the arts and its impact on culture and the world.
    • Develop, revise, and teach art history and practice-related curriculum.
    • Provides instruction utilizing paint, clay, paper, collages, plaster, metal, chalks, inks, charcoal and other drawing materials.
    • Collaborate with Specials Teachers, Specialists, and Division Heads to find ways to integrate instruction with other curricular subjects, namely social studies.
    • Maintain an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
    • Communicate effectively and establish strong working partnerships with families, students, colleagues, and administrators.
    • Write reports and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings. Requirements
      • 3-5 years experience as an art teacher
      • Bachelor's degree in fine arts with teaching qualification or equivalent, master's preferred
      • Demonstrated excellence in a variety of art mediums and techniques, practicing artist a plus
      • Developmental knowledge of and experience with 8-13 year old children
      • Experience developing and revising curriculum with an integrative approach
      • Willingness to work in close collaboration with colleagues and children
      • Familiarity with project-based, experiential teaching and lesson development
      • Commitment to creating a culture of equity and inclusion
      • Effective classroom management skills
      • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
      • Valid First Aid, Adult, and Infant CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency City and Country School offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with level of experience, plus benefits. The salary range for this position is $66,000–$125,305. Candidates may apply here .
