    About the Role: Steven Winter Associates is currently looking for a mid-level Energy Engineer to join their team in NYC. The role will be part of the Building Operations, Decarbonization & Efficiency (BODE) team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in completing decarbonization and energy efficiency projects, implementing energy conservation measures, and supporting sustainability efforts. This position involves conducting energy and feasibility analyses, as well as providing implementation support for retrofit projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.     The annual salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $95,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary will depend on the candidate's confirmed skills and experience.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Conduct energy project work for commissioning, energy auditing, and retro-commissioning of buildings.
    • Manage technical project tasks such as reviewing construction documents, developing testing plans, and inspecting installations.
    • Take charge of small-scale energy projects, including financial aspects.
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders including building owners, developers, and engineers.
    • Collaborate with internal teams like project managers, energy modelers, and consultants.
    • Assist in preparing project proposals as directed by Senior Engineers.
    • Provide training to junior staff members as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field.
    • 2 – 5+ years of relevant experience with HVAC systems in large buildings.
    • Experience in field inspections related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
    • Familiarity with HVAC systems and energy-efficient practices.
    • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office Programs.
    • Knowledge of energy codes and standards like ASHRAE and IECC.
    • Ability to conduct energy audits and assessments.
    • Strong skills in data analysis and technical reporting.
    • Effective project management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Role involves sitting, standing, walking, typing, reaching, talking, and hearing. Climbing stairs, using elevators, and exposure to various temperatures may be required.

    TRAVEL REQUIRED: Minimal overnight travel (Less than 10%) and frequent local field visits (40-50%). A valid driver's license is essential.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Hybrid role with duties split between office and field work. Office-based tasks will be the primary focus with occasional site visits.
