Job Description and Duties

Employees working at Pelican Bay State Prison for 12 consecutive qualifying pay periods will receive an annual $2600 recruitment and retention bonus.
Under the general direction of the Food Administrator I, Correctional Facility (CF), the Supervising Correctional Cook (SCC), Department of Corrections (DOC) oversees, trains, and supervises Cook Specialist I, CF staff and inmates in meal preparation, serving, and storage at the Diet Kitchen in a correctional facility. The SCC, DOC is accountable for keeping culinary equipment clean and operational, while ensuring the work area is orderly and sanitized. In addition, the SCC, DOC ensures compliance with food service program regulations concerning sanitation and safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either I:
One year in the California state civil service as a Correctional Supervising Cook (Correctional Facility).
Or II
Two years of supervisory experience over cooks and allied workers, managing the preparation, cooking, and serving of three meals daily for at least 300 individuals per meal.
To be eligible for the Supervising Correctional Cook Department of Corrections list, candidates must pass the required examination.
