    The Dental Hygienist position is located at the Healthcare Facility in the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Woman (NCCIW) in Raleigh.

    The Dental Hygienist position is responsible for performing the following duties under the general supervision of a licensed dentist including examining teeth of patients and makes referrals to dentist, applies topical fluorides and performs dental prophylaxis in the prevention of dental disease, records findings and maintains records on dental status and services rendered to patients, instructs patients on the proper care of teeth and recommends measures for the prevention of dental disease and assists the dentist in planning and carrying out dental health programs.

    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

    About the NC Correctional Institution for Women:
    The North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh is the state's primary correctional facility for women.

    It houses the largest female offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female offenders.

    This Institution houses up to 1700 offenders.

    NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
    The Dept.

    of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.

    This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.

    Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

    The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position.

    • Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the techniques and practices of dental hygiene.
    • Demonstrated working skills using dental equipment, instrumentation and radio graphic techniques.
    Licensed to practice as a dental hygienist in North Carolina.
