The Outdoor and Recreation segment develops products that enable outdoor, backyard, and indoor fun and memories including tents, coolers, beverage ware, apparel, and much more.
The Senior New Product Development (NPD) Quality Engineer will ensure our future products delight consumers with their five-star performance and reliability.
The role is part of a tight knit cross functional team requiring a strong relationship with our Brand, Engineering, and Supplier Quality and Manufacturing Quality teams.
She or he will ensure our new products delight our consumers.If you like innovating while working cross functionally to solve problems in an agile and empowered environment this role is very fulfilling.
This role will represent the Quality function for our North American Outdoor and Recreation business on key innovation projects.Responsibilities include products successfully transition from qualification to production at scale using PPAP, statistical process control, and partnering with Engineering to assure test plans and results meet critical to quality requirements.
This position will:
Represent NPD Quality for the business on assigned NPD projects.
Embody Newell values including ownership of product quality, transparency, and continued personal growth.
Partner with R&D Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, Supplier Quality, and Brand Marketing to deliver 5-star innovation
Use advanced quality planning tools to:
Identify opportunities for product improvements based on previous quality and consumer issues.
Partner with R&D Engineering to identify critical to quality attributes (CTQs) for our products and execute qualification plans for new products.
Assure product quality successfully scales from small test builds to full production rate below target defect rates.Be located in Atlanta and be in the office at least three days per week.
Be able to travel by air up to 10% to visit domestic and international suppliers as required.
Qualifications:

A sense of curiosity about consumer use expectations that leads to 5-star product ratings.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
A keen sense of process and organization enabling her/him to master Advanced Quality Planning Tools
Naturally uses teamwork, collaboration, and influence skills for enabling strong partnering with internal peers in Marketing, Engineering, and Project Management to enable:
Transparent sharing of difficult results.
Maintain focus on product performance and reliability issues and escalate when not solved
Able to effectively work on multiple projects in parallel.
Can apply basic statistics to analyze data sets including standard deviation, t-tests, histograms, ANOVA.
An interest standard process standards enabling them to learn and effectively apply a quality management system.
Demonstrated success working in a matrixed organization.
Preferred
Qualifications:
1+ year of quality experience.
Demonstrated success leveraging Advanced Quality Planning Tools such as DVPR, PPAP, statistical process control, control plans, FMEA, building inspection and production quality plans.
Use of statistical analysis software to move from options to a recommended path forward (JMP, Minitab, etc.).Previous experience working inside a Quality Management System (ISO / AS / TS / FDA / IATF).
Previous experience with Consumer product experience.
