    Responsibilities:

    This position is responsible for ensuring the daily function of the Laboratory. This includes scheduling and supervising the staff, supply management, review of daily records, and overall day-to-day functions of the QC/Reference Laboratory.

    • Supervises, trains, mentors and develops assigned staff.
    • Ensures compliance with all quality standards, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.
    • Plans, directs, and supervises all testing, processing and production functions of the QC Reference Laboratories.
    • Develops, distributes and maintains staff competencies.
    • Ensures proficiencies are performed properly, reviewing for accuracy and submitted in the proper time frame.
    • Maintains and orders adequate laboratory supplies and reagents for the department.
    • Designs, directs and reports clinically relevant project data to management and reports emergencies to management.
    • Regulates and monitors productivity of the laboratories and investigates and resolves errors and incident reports.
    • Performs instrument validation and monthly quality control on products.
    • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and follows all procedures, practices, SOPs, regulations and guidelines.
    • Takes hospital orders and accurately process patient samples and performs platelet antibody screening and cross-matching, if applicable.
    Qualifications:

    Education:

    Bachelors or higher degree in clinical laboratory technology, or

    Bachelor's or higher degree from a program with a major in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences, and an advanced certificate in clinical laboratory technology, or

    Education and training sufficient to qualify for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist prior to 2009 as specified in NYS-ED Regulation

    Experience:

    If bachelors degree with at least four years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level.

    If masters degree with at least two years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level.

    License & Certification:

    Current active NY State License as a Clinical Lab Technologist

    For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $123,600.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicants skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
