Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant(Research).


Reporting to the Assistant Director, Research Lab Operations the Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for performing advanced lab duties, under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision.

Assists senior and supervisory technicians in all procedures. Works independently under general direction.


Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.


  • Lab Duties

  • Basic Research Support duties under general or direct supervision.
  • Daily routine technical tasks for Glass Wash and Autoclaving services. Independently follow SOPs
  • Secondary duties are occasional cleaning of freezer filters, reordering of regular lab supplies, cleaning and maintenance of glasswashers and sterilizers, identifying problems as they occur and communicating accordingly with management, as well as other miscellaneous duties.
  • Complete new and changing tasks, in keeping with the nature of a research lab environment
  • Participates and performs other related duties as required.

  • Communicates carefully with others in order to respond appropriately, to answer questions and obtains requested information.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot.
  • Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties; asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to ensure accuracy.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalent

Ability to understand the principles of basic research tests performed in research clinical trials in relation to collection kit inventory, assembly, and specimen transport.

Ability and desire to work in a team setting at a fast pace;
Strong organizational skills, as well as patience and steady commitment toward achievement of goals;
Good analytical skills to evaluate the importance and urgency of problems;
Ability to solve non-routine issues;
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite);
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently
Execute their work in accordance with standards of the Federal Regulations relating to Human Subjects
Excellent communication, administrative and time management skills are necessary.


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to manage competing priorities with close attention to details. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Will train as needed.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $28, $45,898.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
