Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Research Technician.

The Assistant Research Technician reports directly to the Associate Director-Research Laboratory Operations & Research Support Services.

They are responsible for performing advanced lab duties, under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision.

They also assist senior and supervisory technicians in all procedures.

They work under general direction and demonstrate knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.


Responsibilities:


  • Daily routine technical tasks for Glass Wash and Autoclaving services in offsite locations._ _
  • Responsible for managing daily operations of the Small Instrument Fleet in offSite locations.
  • Keep all instruments clean and in good working order.
  • Provide basic training for each instrument, upon request.
  • Assure associated computers are upgraded and in good working order.
  • Perform regularly scheduled calibrations maintain record of calibrations.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance procedures, do basic repairs.
  • Provide recommendations for software and hardware upgrades and suggest new instrument purchases
- iLab expertise for, billing and managing equipment.

  • Provides training and guidance to junior level lab staff.
  • Participates and performs other related duties as required.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS

  • Excels in cooperation, collaboration and communication with all NYULH employees
  • May communicate directly with PIs and other scientists, coordinates delivery of results to outside collaborators also.
  • Communicates carefully with others in order to respond appropriately, to answer questions and obtains requested information.
  • Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all research information.

JUDGEMENT / DECISION-MAKING

  • Must be able to troubleshoot.
  • Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties; asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to ensure accuracy.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or followup attention.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to manage competing priorities with close attention to details. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Will train as needed.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $ Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
