- Establishes relationships with agencies and service providers in the community.
- Refers and connects residents to service providers in the community such as case management, personal assistance, transportation, meals-on-wheels, counseling, primary healthcare, and legal advocacy.
- Provides education to residents on available services, application procedures, and rights.
- Assists the residents in developing support networks.
- Provides and/or coordinates training for residents on obligations of tenancy.
- Coordinates on-site presentations and events to provide education about and linkages to available services in the community.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
- Working knowledge of supportive services and other resources for senior citizens.
- Ability to advocate, organize, problem solve, and provide results for seniors served.
- Knowledge of basic office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Computer literacy required, preferably Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and make appropriate recommendations within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, residents, community service agencies, and the public.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple demands to accomplish tasks in accordance with established requirements.
- Skilled in analyzing situations in order to identify problems and offer possible solutions.
- Skilled in communicating with all types of people in a wide variety of situations.
- BA/BS required (preferably in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology or Counseling). Relevant experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
- Minimum of two years of experience in social service delivery to elderly and/or people with disabilities.
- Bi-lingual Russian-English (required).

Position Summary:
The Social Services Coordinator links residents of the building to supportive services or medical services provided within the general community.
