Overview:
The Quality Manager is a key role responsible for leading the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality System to ensure products and services meet customer and regulatory requirements.
This position operates within a matrix organization, reporting directly to the Plant Manager and having a dotted line to the Corporate Quality Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
Lead by example in promoting safe behaviors.
Ensure Quality team members adhere to company EHS policies and procedures, actively promoting EHS discipline across the organization.
Advanced Quality Planning:
Collaborate with Engineering and Program Management on future program quality planning.
Ensure customer and supplier requirements are met through the PPAP process.
Monitor special characteristics identified during product development using statistical techniques.
Quality System Management:
Accountable as the plant lead for the quality system.
Manage internal audit schedules for IATF
Ensure successful implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 certification.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
Lead problem-solving efforts and drive timely corrective actions.
Drive continuous improvement in Quality performance post-S.O.P.
Supplier Base Oversight:
Manage and provide oversight for the supplier base.
Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality.
Material Control and Disposition:
Own the process for controlling non-conforming material.
Conduct material reviews and ensure timely disposition of suspect product.
PPAP Management:
Own and manage the plant PPAPs.
Participate in the APQP process.
Audit Management:
Manage customer, 3rd party, and internal audits.
Schedule audits, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
Process Controls:
Ensure effective process controls throughout the manufacturing process.
Cover incoming inspection, first piece, in-process inspection, final inspection, and dock audits.
Training and Team Leadership:
Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product and process quality.
Lead and manage multiple Quality team members through assignments, performance appraisals, technical guidance, and coaching.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standard, certification preferred.
Proficiency in Core Quality Tools - APQP, PPAP, MSA, PFMEA, SPC.
Proficient in Problem Solving tools such as 8D, Cause and Effect diagram, 5Why.
Ability to effectively interface and communicate with customers.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Data collection and statistical analysis skills; Minitab preferred.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or
Manufacturing/Operations.
Experience in metal manufacturing processes - casting, machining, etc.
ASQ certification as CQM strongly desired.
Advanced problem-solving expertise in areas such as 8D, Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, and others.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quality Manager or hands-on experience as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with supervisory responsibilities, preferably with Tier One organizations.
