    Role: Engineering Technician

    Location: Norman, Oklahoma

    Pay Range: Up to $30.00 / hour depending on experience

    *Onsite requirement

    Job Summary:

    Performs a wide range of analytical tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution facilities. Projects include design of distribution facilities (serving residential, commercial and small industrial customers), relocation of existing distribution facilities, distribution system improvements such as minor expansions, conversions, and rebuilds.

    Level of Responsibility:


    •Entry level professional


    •Performs assignments with standardized processes


    •Works under direct supervision


    •Resolves questions and problems within established standards and guidelines


    •Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job

    Essential Functions:


    •Create work orders, job sketches, material lists, cost estimates, and updates GIS system for new jobs, property damage, and correction of errors to facilities utilizing field information and data furnished by others.


    •Apply Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, National Electric Safety Code, NBIC and ASME.


    •Provide support for emergency restoration efforts.


    •Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding information needed for projects.

    Education/Work Experience:


    •Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, Physics or other related technical degree


    •Completion of 60 hours equivalent college course work toward a technical degree.


    •Completion of 6 hours of Algebra/Trigonometry/Calculus and 6 hours of Electrical/Electronics/Physics college course work.


    •Valid State Driver's License.

    •Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.


    •Ability to embraces Safety as a value.


    •Knowledge of Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


    •Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.


    •Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.


    •Excellent problem solving and decision- making skills.


    •Strong math skills.


    •Computer skills with ability to use application software (e.g., ArcFM Designer, SAP and MS Office Suite).


    •Ability and desire to develop and add capabilities and skills.


    •Ability to understand electrical drawings and site plans (e.g., commercial & industrial customers, highway drawings).

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands:


    •Office environment requiring extensive computer work


    •Required to work overtime


    •Required to be available for callouts and to respond to storm damage during non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays


    •Occasional travel required including overnight
