    About the Department


    The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE) is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine.

    CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041.

    The University of Chicago's position on the South Side makes it uniquely situated to test, treat, and prevent new HIV infections in a highly affected population.

    The South Side communities and majority Black suburbs connected to them to the South represents the largest contiguous Black population in the United States.

    By using our integrated HIV transmission elimination approaches, we are beginning to make new infections in these communities less frequent.

    This is a grant funded position.

    Job Summary


    The Research Coordinator will assist with day-to-day operations of funded projects that involve working with LGBTQ and criminal justice involved (CJI) individuals.

    This role will oversee several research projects with some oversight from the Research Manager and the Director of Research.


    The candidate will be expected to actively pursue required knowledge and skills for professional development, and stay informed about the NIH and CDC regulations and requirements.

    The candidate will report to the Director of Research. Funded projects include COVID testing, HIV care, PrEP care, network science, substance use.

    This position is grant funded.

    Responsibilities


    • Assists with day-to-day operations of CDC and NIH funded projects that involve working with LGBTQ and criminal justice- involved (CJI) populations vulnerable to COVID and HIV.
    • Coordinates multiple related projects to ensure optimal recruitment, enrollment and fidelity to the complex requirements of study participation, and follow-up counseling.
    • Assists with the development of study protocols, survey instruments, and maintenance of databases.
    • Coordinates and conducts research studies.
    • Recruits; screens for eligibility and consenting participants; delivers assessments, interventions, and controls; performs data entry; and issues referrals to COVID testing and service programming when appropriate.
    • Prepares for or participate in quality assurance audits conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.
    • Participates in study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.
    • Performs other related work as needed.
    Minimum Qualifications


    Education:


    Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

    Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

    Experience:

    • Previous research experience.
    • Experience working with individuals who identify as gender or sexual minorities.

    Technical Skills or Knowledge:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access and Word.

    Working Conditions


    • Attend necessary orientation and trainings throughout Chicago.
    • Provide HIV/STI treatment, education, and prevention in non-traditional settings (community venues).
    • Work in community-based settings and program office.
