- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Must be enrolled in an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program
- Basic Life Support
- Six months work experience preferred
- Computer skills, data entry and filing
- Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition and know when to seek a licensed RCP.
- Assist in maintaining the adequacy, orderliness, and safety of the unit's environment, equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in the activities of the unit, including meetings, in-services, and continuing education at the direction of the licensed RCP, Team Leader, or Clinical Manager.
- Cleans/Reprocesses equipment in accordance with all departmental & Infection Prevention policies.
- Maintains inventory & effectively communicates all supplies needs to Material Specialist and/or department leadership for ordering purposes.
- May perform routine respiratory care activities under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) who holds a Texas state license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), includes aerosol therapy, CPT, pulse oximetry, Incentive Spirometry oxygen therapy, MDI, patient education and set-up of respiratory equipment.
