    Description
    The New Mexico Department of Health seeks to hire a General Counsel.

    The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service and a history of providing competent advice in the area of public law with some or all of the following experience or skills:


    • Litigation experience in state and federal courts involving government entities.
    • Demonstrated interest in public policy and working for or with government entities as an attorney, as a staff attorney, in an office of general counsel, prosecutor, or as a contract attorney; and experience with administrative law that includes reading, interpreting, and applying statutes and regulations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, commitment to teamwork, proficiency learning new technology, and the ability to multi-task independently.


    Minimum qualifications include a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law, admission to the New Mexico Bar, and four (4) years of relevant experience in the practice of law.

    Salary will be determined commensurate with experience.
